Losing 3.7 Million Rupees Contract.

Now imagine you’re working in a corporate firm and your boss comes up with a plan to start working on a huge project that has a potential to flip the tide and raise the financial standard after the loss faced by company due to lock down in convid 19.This opportunity is huge even for you as you may be promoted to the next line of managers.

So here comes the Tender of OGDCL which was supply of “Maintenance free batteries for scada systems” we started working on during the mid of October. First we worked on the Technical specifications and ensured it meets the requirements of OGDCL and we also provided a one year warranty in case of any issue that might occcur during it’s usability.

Once the Technical section was completed we moved on to commercial and got the prices from a distributor on which we added 35% markup before submitting the proposal.

We were approved technically but we came in 3rd position in commercial evaluation. Why?

  • We got the price from distributor who always keeps its markup before getting the factory rate. So our price got a lot higher
  • Secondly we added a huge markup percentage of 35% which wasn’t comparable to market rate.
  • Lastly as we excel in Instrumentation field but we gave a hit and trial to evaluate the Tender of OGDCL.

Hope is still not lost at all as we’ve been awarded more tenders from Pakistan Petroleum Limited.
